East-Street

Whilst in a constant search for new(ish) places to lunch or dine at, I am very happy to show you what i stumbled upon very recently. A perfect little place for lunch.

East-Street is an Asian restaurant situated just off Tottenham Court Road station, that opened its doors December last year. They serve some of the best picks from Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and a few more of my favourite places in the world. Needless to say, It will become one of my favourites.

The staff were extremely friendly and chatty. We nattered away about Asia, travel and food while looking around. I like it very much when staff are confident to make recommendations, and we had some great ones in East-Street.

East-Street have a great little Mini-Mart for those who love making oriental dishes at home. They have some of the best fish sauces that you can't find that easily anywhere else.

One of the most exciting things about East-Street, is that they have taken a small detail from each of Asian cultures and implemented into the restaurant. Such as plastic little chairs as per below - a staple of Vietnamese street food culture.

And having all of my asian food favorites in one place? Come on, it doesnt get any better.

The food was brilliant. Very authentic and fragrant with a hint of chilli to taste.

There was no need to make reservations for lunch, as they have quite a lot of tables, but it was buzzing with people nonetheless.

We were very naughty and treated ourselves to a Singapore Sling at lunchtime. Just couldn't resist!

Find this wonderful place here, and let me know if you do try it. I would love to hear what you thought of it.

DSTRKT London

If you have been following me, you will know, I am a massive foodie. I worship good, delicious, adventurous foods.

So far, I wrote reviews of restaurants serving burgers, phoseafood and moroccan food.

DSTRKT London, is a restaurant/nightclub that serves contemporary European dishes made of local organic foods.

My gorgeous friend and i couldn't help but go for the tasting menu, and this is how it all looked -

The dark neon decor and swanky customers did seem a little too pretentious for me (for a restaurant), but nonetheless, the food was of exceptional quality and service didn't disappoint.

There was also a live band playing from later-on in the evening which I always enjoy.

I do enjoy gourmet food immensely, in fact, I live for it!

Maldon Rock Oyster with Lemon Air

Yello Fin Tuna Cubes with Soy Air and Avocado Mousse

Grilled Flat Bread Salad with Macadamia Nut Pesto

Saute Padron Peppers

Seared Scottish Scallops, Saffron and Pumpkin Sauce

Grilled British Lamb Cutlets in smoky Eggplant pure and  Piquillo

Maldon Rock Oyster with Lemon Air
Grilled Broccolini with Burrata. Pomegranate, Micro Basil and Garlic.

The receptionist mentioned that we just missed Tulisa that was dining with her friends, which gave me a sigh of relief. I would have had to ask her some awkward questions!

If you like that sort of thing, DSTRKT is a great place for celebration - birthday, Valentine's... or if you're anything like me - Friday!

I had a wonderful evening down to the company, food and champagne cocktails.

You can have a little read about DSTRKT London here and you can find them here
Tasting menu starts from around £50 per person plus drinks and service.

If you ask me, definitely worth a visit!

The Fish House for Oysters

I have been craving seafood like crazy lately. My man does not like shellfish (yeah, I know!) or "fish with a face", as he calls it,  so we had to find a place that will suit us both.

Amazingly, we stumbled across this wonderful little restaurant called Fish House by Victoria Park. I cannot believe I didn't know about it! This will definitely be my regular from now on.  (Therefore I can promise to update the pictures regularly with the new things I try!)

I thought there could be a few of you that also didn't know about this wonderful little place, and I like to share the love.

It is a retro-style takeaway chippie, that has an Oyster bar at the back of it. The 'restaurant' is divided in two parts; the takeaway lovers have to queue-up and share bench-style tables, on the left hand side of the House, while more intense sea taste lovers have the right hand side all to themselves. With green glass tables that felt, very appropriately, reminiscent of deep green sea and loads of menus hanging around to arouse your hungry imagination, we sat down excited to indulge.

We arrived quite early on a Monday night when it was empty, but by the time we were leaving, it was full and buzzing.

Fish House offer their battered cod, haddock, plaice, rock or scampi with chips to either take-away or eat in. And believe me when I say this - it is utterly divine. (I never thought I would say this about 'fish and chips'.) It comes with luminous green mushy peas and tartar sauce. You will be right in guessing this was the choice of my man, and he was oh so happy!!

My choices were more 'grown up' sea tasting like - oysters, my favorite scallops with hollandaise sauce and asparagus and grilled king prawns.

The menu varies from Saffron seafood risotto to barracuda with sun dried tomato pesto...

A lovely choice of dessert or Italian ice-cream served by the scoop to finish off a wonderful meal. It is also so cheap that I can't help but want to go there everyday. A couple of courses each with drinks and dessert we hardly paid £50 in total.... can you believe it? You just can't go wrong with that.

Find them here.

As promised, this will be updated with new dishes on a regular basis. In fact, I am going there next week. Will I bump into you?
