Whilst in a constant search for new(ish) places to lunch or dine at, I am very happy to show you what i stumbled upon very recently. A perfect little place for lunch.
East-Street is an Asian restaurant situated just off Tottenham Court Road station, that opened its doors December last year. They serve some of the best picks from Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and a few more of my favourite places in the world. Needless to say, It will become one of my favourites.
The staff were extremely friendly and chatty. We nattered away about Asia, travel and food while looking around. I like it very much when staff are confident to make recommendations, and we had some great ones in East-Street.
East-Street have a great little Mini-Mart for those who love making oriental dishes at home. They have some of the best fish sauces that you can't find that easily anywhere else.
One of the most exciting things about East-Street, is that they have taken a small detail from each of Asian cultures and implemented into the restaurant. Such as plastic little chairs as per below - a staple of Vietnamese street food culture.
And having all of my asian food favorites in one place? Come on, it doesnt get any better.
The food was brilliant. Very authentic and fragrant with a hint of chilli to taste.
There was no need to make reservations for lunch, as they have quite a lot of tables, but it was buzzing with people nonetheless.
We were very naughty and treated ourselves to a Singapore Sling at lunchtime. Just couldn't resist!
Find this wonderful place here, and let me know if you do try it. I would love to hear what you thought of it.
wow, that looks fab - I'm always on a lookout for unpretentious places that serve good, authentic food. Thanks for the recommendation!
